What’s a wiki? How do I create one? How can they be used in the classroom? All these questions about wikis and more will be answered in this hands-on workshop. You will have the chance to create a wiki and explore a range of ideas for students to use wikis as a tool to collaborate with each other and others around the world. Blogging is a powerful learning tool for the classroom. It is an easy way to create web pages to share ideas and events within the classroom, school, community and the world. In this hands-on workshop you will setup your own classroom blog and discover the range of tools that are available to make your blog a powerful learning tool. (Advanced workshop also available)
Growing oral language skills with podcasting
Get your students message out to the world. Podcasting is a powerful tool to help students develop their oral literacy. In this workshop we will discover what podcasting is all about, explore some great examples and make your own podcast using Audacity (pc) or Garageband. (Advanced workshop also available)
Surfs up! Resources on the internet
Finding resources on the internet can be time consuming and frustrating. This practical workshop will take you on a tour of ‘first stop’ websites that provide brilliant resources for teaching and learning. You will learn easy tips to make searching faster and more effective and be given simple tools to download interactive content such as flash activities and Youtube videos.
“But I only have 1 or 2 computers”
There are some great ideas for using ICT in the classroom but how do you manage it when you have 30 children and only 1 or 2 computers? This workshop will explore many practical activities and strategies to help you make the most of the computers in your classroom.
