Interactive Technologies (1.5hr) Introduction to the software
We run through how to connect your interactive whiteboard, data projector or Mobi and give you the basics of how to get started with your Workspace software. You'll be up and running and able to get to grips with the technology prior to your professional development with our teacher trainers.
Stage 1 (3hrs) Introduction to Interactive Technologies
Our trainers will demonstrate the full interactive potential of your Workspace software and how to use it to improve teaching and learning in the classroom. By illustrating the methodology with examples taken straight from the classroom, teachers and / or students will leave feeling ready to try out and develop all those ideas learnt throughout the session. .
Stage 2 (3hrs) Introduction to Interactive Technologies
We begin by reviewing the activities learnt in Stage 1, together with discussing any specific issues you may have encountered since attending the Stage 1 training. Advanced sessions:
IWB+Literacy (3hrs)
We will demonstrate a number of ideas for embedding IWB activities into all aspects of literacy, including brainstorming, planning and mind mapping ideas; developing digital stories, using ‘feedback’ from group or class work; incorporating oral, grammar and sentence level work; spelling and handwriting. We investigate what resources are available in the IWB software, together with where to find them on the internet. Bring along your own examples and resource ideas so that we can develop them using the combined talents of the group.
IWB+Numeracy (3hrs)
Research states that the biggest gains in mathematics are produced for students who have access to stimulating technologies in the hands of skilled teachers. This workshop will enable you to up skill in your use of the IWB with the maths curriculum. We will demonstrate a number of ways of embedding IWB activities into whole class and task board time. We will investigate the online resources available to the interactive whiteboard user, creating our own resources and adapting those already out there. Feel free to share your resources as we help one another to design meaningful content.
IWB+Inquiry (3hrs)
Schools use a variety of inquiry models. In this session we consider the model that your school uses and examine ideas integrating your IWB into different stages of an inquiry from assessing prior knowledge, questioning, researching, applying and creating. The IWB can also be a useful resource for supporting a teacher with scaffolding an inquiry.
